Omer A Twehous:  The Man, the Myth, the Legend.

On the morning of August 24, 2019, Omer A. Twehous of Arvada, CO passed away at the age of 86.

Omer grew up in Nebraska as one of nine children but spent his adult life in Colorado.  He served in the Army in the 1950’s, married and became a father of two in the 1960’s, and was a certified Stationary Engineer until he retired in 1995. He loved fishing and camping, card games, family gatherings, and performing all the wonderful duties (honors) of being the most spectacular grandfather ever.  He was an exceptional handy man, a coach, mentor and an all-around good guy. He was known for his sense of humor and wittiness. He meant many things to many people and he will be sorely missed.  He was the best husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend anyone could ever have.  We are truly blessed to have had him in our lives.

Omer is preceded in death by his parents, John & Rose Twehous; Sister(s) Rose Vacha and Venita Wobken; Brother(s) Francis, Leander, Virgil, Bill, and Gene Twehous; Sister-in-law(s) Josephine Ferriter, Betty Bauer, Theresa Capra; Brother-in-law Joe Wanczyk;  and several In-Laws, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.

He is survived by his lovely wife of 59 years, Rose Twehous; his favorite son & daughter-in-law, Ed & Robin Twehous; his favorite daughter & son-in-law, Donna & Mark Coates; his wonderful grandchildren Sean Foster (Shelby Riggan), Marcus Coates, Jessica Coates, and Stephanie Coates; his great granddaughters Jaydyn Foster and Logan Riggan; his older brother, Ray Twehous(MaryLou); his Sister In-Law Mary Barela(Tony); and numerous In-Laws, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.

So many fond memories when you would drive my sisters to Durango for a visit.
As you would say “Driving Miss Daisies.” We always had a fun time and those memories will always remain with me. Rest in Peace, Uncle Omer.
