When Mattie called you on the phone she would always say this is sister number five. She was always concerned about your well being and how things were going for you. She was more concerned about others then herself. She always seemed to worry about everything and everyone. She has to worry no more. Rest in peace Mattie. I’m glad to of had you as my sister.

Aunt Mattie, your heart was broken when God called Uncle Leroy (your Larry) home. Now I find peace and comfort in knowing that you’re in the arms of our Lord & Savior, and reunited with your Husband Leroy, Grandpa Squirrel, Grandma Hank and sister’s Kay and Berline.

Thank you for all your love and kindness throughout the years. My mom (Shirley) will always miss your weekly calls checking in on her and my dad (Ray).

I will love and miss you always, Aunt Mattie — Rest in Peace and may God Bless and comfort Don & Des and their families during this diffcult time.

Hello Auntie. My memories of you are through the eyes of a child. We lived far away, but you always made me feel happy and wanted when we saw you. I remember you taking us to Central City and buying me a Bronco hat which read…. “ On the eight day, God made the Broncos.”    God made us all to be together at the times and the places He intended. I’m grateful for those times.   I know, I was too little and immature then, to say “ I love you”so I’ll do it right now.    I love you Auntie. God has you right where He wants you at the time He wanted you.  Tell Him I said “hi.” Amen

When I was a kid in elementary School, the school I attended was only a block away from where Mattie lived, as a kid I got really bad migraine headaches, so bad that I would get sent home from school and I would go to Mattie’s house, the only thing that would make me feel better and make my headaches go away was to have someone rub my back head and shoulders and then try to sleep, my sister would do that for me, the only other person that ever did that for me was my mom and my headaches would go away and I would feel better, Mattie we miss you I thank you for always being there for me when I was a kid and all through my life remembering birthdays and special days that you sent me cards and little notes saying you loved me, you planted the seeds in me and the church that was so good to me that grew in me and saved me from the terrible life that I lived, because of your encouragement your support and your love and the love of others I have a new life a good life and was saved by the Lord, rest in peace sister I will never forget you and only have good memories of you.

Mattie will be missed but not forgotten. Mattie was always doing something that use to bug Leroy, now she can really bug him. Lol
We’ve known Mattie and Leroy over 40 years being involved with Royal Rangers and church. We’ve had a good time on a cruise together and let’s just say it was a crazy time. I remember when she gave Leroy a golden globe award and flowers after a church play at church funny time. And she loved  to get her and Leroy’ picture.  I also remember when Leroy nicknamed Mattie “Matilda” and we would call her that instead on Mattie. Mattie Rest In Peace.
